Easy Ideas To Keep Your Kids Healthy and Active

As a parent, you are your child's role model and educator for keeping healthy! We understand it can be hard to find time in our busy schedules to make sure our children get the recommended 5-7 hours of activity a week. However, activity doesn't always have to mean participating in sports or going for a run. There are many easy ideas to help your kids (and you!) stay active and healthy. Here are just few examples that we absolutely love!

1. Commercial-cize: Many families these days spend time everyday watching TV. While TV time should be limited for your kids, you can also use it as a chance to get some exercise in! During the commercial breaks have everyone get up and move around. Anything and everything from running in place, push-ups, and jumping jacks are quick and easy ways to set a good example for the young ones!

2. Make an Exercise Video: This one is super fun and so easy now that even phones can record high quality videos. Have your kids create a video where they are the fitness stars. They will get fit and have fun watching the videos later, possibly even utilizing them to exercise along with!

3. Dancing Can Be Fun: Dance it up! Simply turn on the radio and dance around. This can be done at anytime of the day, such as while you're cooking dinner or cleaning up the house. Plus, it has the added bonus of making chores more fun for your kids!

4. Going the Extra Step: While you're out running errands, park farther away from the entrance. That way you all can get in a little more walking time!

5. Blend Technology With Play: Kids of today love to play video games, so why not keep them active at the same time? Many games offer the chance to move around such as dancing, boxing, and bowling, either alone or with a partner. Challenge your kids to a friendly boxing match to keep them interested!

These five ideas are simple and fun and will ensure that your kids stay active and learn good habits from you as well! We love to hear from you so let us know how these ideas work for your family and what other ways you guys keep your kids active!

Love, The Point5 Team
